Westchester County Jail Posing As A Federal Prison

So, I've been watching this new show on Fox, "The Following". It's about a serial killer, who now has a following that kills for him.

Well, in the show, he broke out of the "Federal Detention Center Richmond VA" after killing 5 guards in the pilot episode. I'm watching the begining of the second episode, and they showed a brief aerial shot of the FDC before opening a scene.

For some reason, it looked very familiar to me. So I paused it, and looked at the complex as well as the surrounding area, and unless someone can prove me wrong, I'm 99% sure that it is the Westchester County Jail, the old stomping grounds of HFD219, on the Grasslands Reservation that is being used for the exterior shot. You can see the parking garage, radio tower, DEP Water Plant, etc.

Pizza And Brew's Central Ave location (you know, the one next to Staples) has been reborn. I have many great memories of meals at Pizza and Brew with my family, and am excited to try the new generation of P&B.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Customers who step into the newly-renovated Racanelli's New York Italian might forget they're in Greenburgh.

The restaurant at 851 Central Ave., not to be confused with Racanelli's Pizza and Brew on Knollwood Road, will continue to stand at the same location like it has for the past 40 years — but is now sporting a new look. When original founder Martino Racanelli passed away two years ago, his three sons decided to give the restaurant an extensive makeover. The restaurant just re-opened its doors for business in December.

The Alamo Drafthouse Is Coming To Yonkers!

When I left Austin,TX, one of the things I was going to miss the most (besides the obvious) was the Alamo Drafthouse, which is the coolest movie theater on the planet. Originally, it just had four locations in Austin, but is expanding rapidly (I'm not sure how I feel about that, I hope Alamo doesn't lose any of it's charm and become too "corporate").

Today, while surfing the internet, I came across the news that they were opening a theater in Yonkers! I couldn't be more stoked!

Metro North M8

My first photo and ride on a Metro North M-8.

Very much like the M-7's, but runs on overhead power. The ride seemed a little smoother,  and the A/C a bit more powerful then the M-7's, but I didn't notice a huge difference between the two. Still an awesome railcar, very well appointed. New Haven line commuters must be psyched!

"We Support Our Troops"

"We Support Our Troops"

I see this slogan on a ton of different emergency vehicles.

But is it just a slogan? Or do the people actually support the troops? I'm talking about community supply drives, helping soldiers families while they are away, keeping local war monuents well-kept and relative, preferential hiring of vetrans or supporting vetrans causes, adopt a brigade, the list goes on and on with what you can do to truly "Support Our Troops".

I just feel that it's just a bumper sticker like saying, for some, that may reflect just an opinion, and it shouldn't be. Yes, it's a great reminder, but actions speak louder then words.

Roy Roger Resturants

I remember, before Roy Rogers sold it's Westchester resturants to Wendy's, that it was my favorite fast food chain. As a kid, we frequented the Hawthorne location.

There was also one in Yonkers on Central Ave Southbound by the Cross County Parkway. That was ex-something else before, does anyone know what? (It's a Burger King now)

Then, there were the remaining ones at some Upsate NY, NJ, and Deleware rest areas, but those operations were no where near what the actual resturants were like at their peak.

I just checked Wikipedia, and learned they have changed hands a ton over the past decade, and some actually still exist....however seemingly mostly as corporate stakes and cards.
I miss that resturant.
