Ardsley Police New Car 98 2007 Dodge Charger Police Package

Today, on my way to CVS, I had the oppurtunity to do a "shoot by" of Ardsley PD's new and old Car 98.

This is the new Car 98. It's a 2007 Dodge Charger, with a new paint schem for Ardsley PD. It was painted and outfitted with a Sound Off lights and siren package by Stiloski's new Emergency Vehicle division in Sleepy Hollow, NY.

The old Car 98, a 2004 Ford Police Interceptor, was transferred to Ardsley FD, where it is assigned to Car 2013, the 2nd Assistant Chief. It was given to the FD from the PD with the awesome Whelen lightbar and strobe package and siren.

"COPS" Episodes Featuring Cpl. Anthony Damiano

Has anyone seen the COPS episodes featuring this guy?

They are my favorite episodes because of him. I wish they would ride with him again. He is to Police what Frankie and T-Mac are to firefighting.

From WikiPedia.org
The gruff bluster alternating with tenderness of Cpl. Anthony Damiano
of the Passaic County, New Jersey Sheriff's Department proved so popular that he
became the only police officer to receive an entire 30 minute episode devoted to
him entitled "Jersey Cop".

Corporal Anthony Damiano is a police officer of the Passaic County, New
Jersey Sheriff's Department. He was featured on several 2004 episodes of the TV
series COPS where he could switch from fatherly compassion to a no-nonsense
drill sergeant-like gruffness when he felt that a suspect was not cooperating.
He is fond of shouting what, are you kiddin me?! while pursuing
fugitives.
Some of my other favorite COPS episodes is where they pursue the suspect into a lake (this season) in Brevard County, FL, the America's Most Wanted crossover episode where John Walsh rode along and actually capture a AMW person, and the on featuring Jersey City PD Offcier Rick "JCPDESU" Garrison when he was a patrol officer and investigated a guy locked in a container.

Oh, and who could not love Tased and Confused - All perpetrators were apprehended with the use of a TASER (electronic stunning device) at the time of arrest.

Just last week, I saw COPS had some new footage from Boston. That's awesome, because it seems a majority of their footage was coming from Florida and Palm Springs, CA lately. I like the episodes in diverse, interesting cities such as when they filmed in Maui.

I hope COPS rides with Cpl. Anthony Damiano again- anybody know where he is now?

I Bleed Lime...The New Walker 170

Well, since I'm trying to make the switch to a quad cane, which isn't as easy as I thought it would be, I'll have the walker for a bit longer.

So, I decided after I while joking about it, that I would pimp it out.

Ladies and gentleman, I present you with the new "Walker 170". In glorious lime with blue striping, and two functioning EMTBravo.com Garrity LifeLite Headlights.

The best part, it's still a functional walker, but now with extra light at nightime.

It's quite hystrical. Special thanks to the friends that helped me out with this, especially since I could tolerate only a bit of this project before retreating back to my heating pad.

Also, special thanks to Rust-oleum for making Painters Touch Key Lime spraypaint color. Matches my work apparatus exactly.

jetBlue's First Flight Out Of Westchester

Well, yesterday I missed jetBlue's first flight out of Westchester to Orlando, that I really wanted to be oon. I've always wanted to fly a jetBlue inaugral flight, and I've always wanted to fly out of HPN, but unforunetly circumstances overuled. I would have at least liked to have gotten some photos.

I wonder which plane it was?

Does anyone else know what jetBlue did to commemerate this occasion? Did they bring the "jetBlue" experience trailer? Free ballons? Anything?

A Rare, Behind The Scene Look

I'm going to give you all a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the The EMTBravo Group Headquarters And Operations Center in Hartsdale, NY. Only family and close friends have visited, so to many of you this is never before seen.

I must note a couple of things in this photo. My diecast emergency vehicle collection repesented in this photo is about 25% of it. The rest is in storage. To the right of the photo are drawers that contain my photo equipment, and on top drawers that have my tools. On the printer rack, an all-in-one inkjet printer is in on order, mostly to be used for a copy machine. The HP inkjet will move to a slide out drawer on the bottom left of the desk, for color documents.

As for the computer, I am running a Dell XPS 410 with dual digital Dell Ultrasharp 19" monitors. I have been mostly using my Dell laptop and Mac laptop lately from my temporary remote headquarters in my bed. Also, among the printers, is a HP Photosmart 8450 for photo printing, a Dell 1710 Laser, a Brother fax, and HP960C Color Inkjet.

Here's a wide view of the EMTBravo/x635 Operations Center:
This is the EMTBravoCentral.com Shipping Supplies Center. (Not pictured: The EMTBravo Group-EMTBravoCentral.com Warehouse and Fufillment Center):
And a close up of the desk:
Finally, this hutch for my existing desktop was custom built for me last week by Chris Creations, and delivered, stained, and installed by HFD23 (Thanks Guys!) Chris does AWESOME work, and he has done projects for "Extreme Home Makeover", working side by side with their famous woodworking staff, as well as multiple other cool projects. If you're interested in getting some custom woodworking done, contact me at x635@EMTBravo.com and I'll put you in touch with him:

Maybe It's Not So Bad....

Now that I'm looking at my kitbash mentioned previously fresh this morning, it really isn't as bad as I thought.

I think I'm going to re-do the car. I know the parts I really screw up, and maybe re-do those areas.

Or, the whole car down, prime it, and repaint it with an airbrush machine and Testors paint.

Also, I'm going to take one of the blank cars I have now, mask the car approriately, and use the airbrush machine to create stripes.

Or maybe just tape or something else they may sell in a hobby supply, just have to look. I know I can do better with these and want to do better, just need the right experience and tools.

My First, And Maybe Last, Kitbash

Today, I decided to try my hand at kitbashing. I ordered a couple of those blank Dodge Charger R/T police package 1/?? diecast cars from http://www.fireandcopshop.com/ . Even with my hands unsteady and memory shot, I went at it. I used this paint, probaly not the best for model painting (maybe airbrushing comes out better?), but the color was perfect. So, I decided to make a fictional Hartsdale FD Car 2172 Dodge Charger.

Here's the start of the project:

Then, I disassembled the entire car.
Then, it went through the paint shop. Due to my impatience watching paint dry, and my unsteady hand, and possibly using the wrong technique (again maybe Testors Model Paint would have been better)
And here's the final product. I couldn't remember how things went back together, so I just hot-glued everything back together, instead of the intricated screws and clips. I broke a lot of stuff off to get it back together, but hopefully that's not noticeable. Anyways, here's the AWFUL job I did. Looks like a 3 year old did it. I shouldn't have attempted this project to begin with, I knew the outcome wasn't going to be good, but it was fun and I learned stuff for maybe next time. I just wish my hand was more steady and I knew how to paint better.
Again, here's a shot of the blank car. I'd really like to do a fictional Greenburgh PD car, but obviously that wouldn't be the best idea right now for me. Although, mabye I could get some clear label sheets at Office Depot and print out lables, and apply them to the cars as graphics, and again use colored electrical tape as striping.
Well, I'm quite tired and sick from all the fumes of the various paint products, so I'm going to rest. No more arts and crafts for today, although I have some other projects in mind.

Don't forget to order your EMTBravo shirts please. They help to support this site. The funding comes out of my pocket, and by buying a shirt, you help me out with the expenses such as hosting. New York State Thruway Authority Wrecker 1

Today, I got to shoot a truck I've been wanting to shoot forever, New York State Thruway Authority "Wrecker 1". This unit is first due to any incident on or around the Tappan Zee Bridge (I-87 between Tarrytown in Westchester and Nyack in Rockland, over the Hudson River)
Don't know the spec, only that it is an International chasis.

This is also the first apparatus I have shot since my accident. I saw this sitting in a parking lot by my doctors office as we were pulling out, and ordered Kristen to pull into a position where I could shoot from the passenger seat of the Nitro.

Update On x635- March 21st 2007

I'd like to thank everyone about the concern showed for me and Kristen.. The numbers of the EMTBravo thread and the blog posts are amazing, and mean a lot to me. I a truly blessed to have so many friends and so many that care about me.

Each day, I believe I am getting stronger. There have been a number of challenges in my recovery, which myself and Kristen are working hard to overcome. I have my good days, and my bad days. The pain and the many other issues makes daily life difficult, but you have to deal with what fate gives you. There are many others that suffer more then I can comprehend, and I hope when my health is better that I can do something to help these people- I've already have some ideas in mind. During my time in the Trauma ICU, although I don't remve rember it, I remember how helpless I felt and am lucky to have family and friends to advocate for me- I can only imagine those without strong family or friends.

I have a lot of motivation to encourage me in my recovery. I want to be able to dance at my upcoming wedding, I miss the guys at work, their antics, and all that they teach me about life and firefighting everyday. I miss my job and serving my hometown. I can't wait to pilot Hartsdale's new Spartan Gladiator/4-Guys when it arrive, among many other things-like photo hunting. If I look t the positive side, at least my injury was duing colder weather, lol. My recovery hopefully will come just as the weather warms up. I've also got a lot of rigs I want to shoot with my new Canon Digital Rebel XTi 400D.

I am getting a lot of help from family and friends. Many of them help me type and read on this forum, since I have difficulty doing both at times. They are also helping me to keep everything related to this site running, and I thank them for that. Not being able to it myself is frusterating, but the system we have setup seems to be woriking well.

I have to limit my time on the computer, I can only tolerate so much. I'm working from a laptop in bed, and have a whole operations center from my bed. However, I need to keep my mind active and this is theraputic for me. My new MacBook is awesome, although I prefer my Dell laptop at time.

As for visitors, I can't handle many. I limit my visitors to family, close friends, and the crews of E-170, TL-15, E169, AND 2172 (FD only on good days and limited at that) I also can't handle many phone calls or a lot of stimulation, and need my relaxation and recuperation time However, although I DO READ AND APRECIATE EVERY EMAIL SENT TO X635@EMTBRAVO.COM. That is the best and most appreciated way to contact me.

As I've said, I'd like to keep the nature of the trauma relaed incident and my inuries private. I ask that everyone respect that.

CHiPs Is Coming Out On DVD!!!

I found out today that CHiPs-The Complete First Season is being released on DVD on June 5th, 2007. I've already got it preordered on Amazon.com.

CHiPs one of my FAVORITE TV shows when I was a kid, and even when they used to replay them on TNT at 7AM and 8AM then moved to overnights a couple of years ago.

I had hoped that TV Land would have picked up on this, but they didn't When I casually browsed through Amazon.com today, I came across the AWESOME suprise! I can't wait until I can start watching CHiPs again....I've been hoping that it would be one of the many TV shows being released on DVD.

Plot Outline The adventures of two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers.
Plot Synopsis: "CHiPS," which stood for California Highway Patrol, followed the daily beats of two state motorcycle patrolmen as they patrolled the freeway system in and around Los Angeles. Officer Jon Baker was the straight, serious officer while Frank "Ponch" Poncherello was the more free- wheeling member of the duo; both reported to Sgt. Joe Getraer, who gave out assignments and advice in handling the cases. Each episode saw a compilation of incidents, ranging from the humorous (e.g., a stranded motorist) to criminal investigations (such as hijackings) and tragic incidents (such as a fiery multi-car pile-up with multiple deaths. Other aspects of Ponch and Jon's daily work were highlighted as well; the social lives of both officers (they were both single) often provided the lighter moments. On occassion, Ponch and Jon were assisted by a female "Chippie" at first, the very beautiful Sindy Cahill; and later, the more wholesome Bonnie Clark. In 1982, Ponch got a new partner, Bobby Nelson (series star Wilcox left the show that year), while Nelson's younger brother, Bruce, was a trainee on the force. By now, the female "Chippie" was the attractive Kathy Lindahan.

They Also Served...

I just got my copy of the just-published "They Also Served- A History Of The Non-Municpal Fire Departments Of New York City" published by Fire Apparatus Journal Publications.

This book is very well researched, and contains a ton of information and over 600 photos (both past and current) of those FD's in NYC that aren't part of FDNY. They go into the history and story of the orginization, and their apparatus. The photo collection in this book is found no where else

Departments covered:
-New York Fire Patrol
-Port Authority Of New York And New Jersey
-Military Base
-Federal Agencies
-City Agencies
-Transportation Agencie
-Amusement Facilties
-Industrial Faciltieis
-Institutuional Facilties
-Miscellaneous
-Volunteer Fire Companies-Fire Buff Organizationa-Memorial Rigs-Move Rigs

Definetly worth adding to a Firematic book collection, especially if you like apparatus or FDNY
I must also add, the binding of this book is done quite well.

Online, the book is available from:http://www.fire-police-ems.com/books/bt3211.shtml

x635's Diecast Photo Studio

Many people asked how I set up this shot:
Here's a behind the scenes look at the x635 Diecast Collectible photo studio (which is also used for other items. (Not pictured- the tripod and camera). Special thanks to an anonymous friend for helping me with this- actually I just gave orders from my bed.
I use this to photograph most of my pieces to go along with my inventory system. Sometimes though I set up the shot differently, like here.
Again, special thanks to my friend for doing this for me and lifting my spirits a little in the meantime.

10-13 Benefit For Stu Cohen, PD/FD MOS

While on duty, after executing search warrants at a heroin stash house in Hartsdale in December, Senior Investigator Stuart Cohen of the Westchester County District Attorneys Narcotic Iniative (W-DANI) contracted a severe, and mysterious illness. Stu has been hospitalized since December 10th, 2006, and is presently at the I.C.U. at Cornell in Manhattan. Extensive medical exams were conducted, with no diagnosis made. Unfortunetly, Stu has lapsed into a coma, wherehe remains to this date. In the near future, Stu is expected to be transferred to a long term care facility more suitable for coma patients. Needless to say, Stu, his wife, and his two young daughters have a long road to recovery ahead of them.

Stu is a former officer with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority PD, and the Hastings Police Department. Stu is also a volunteer firefighter with Hastings FD and a karate instructor in his off duty time.

In light of these tragic events and due to increasing and anticipated medical costs, which his family will occur, we are asking you to join us at a 10-13 benefit to support his family

EMS, Billing, and Taxes

Here's a question I have for all of you, and I'd love to hear your opinions.

Say you live in a Town where you recieve municipal Police and EMS funded by taxes.

If you need an ambulance in this town, is it fair to get a bill from that tax-supported agency?

My thoughts are- you pay a LOT in taxes for this and other town services- and you use them and get a bill?!?! What are the taxes for then?

Geico Cavemen Get Sitcom Pilot

I''ve always loved the Geico Cavemen commercials. I'm sure that many of you have seen their trials and tribulations on the Geico ads on TV.

It's been announced on the news that the Cavemen are going to be given their own pilot for a sitcom by ABC. The premise would be the cavemen facing prejudice as they go about daily life in a modern-day city- much like the premise of the commercials.

It's been a while since there's been a sitcom that's caught- and held my attention. As these commercials really are creative and make me laugh, I'm holding high hope that the pilot gets picked up and made into the series.

Mango Salsa.

Korn: Unpluged

Last night, I Tivo'd something rare on MTV......music.

At about 3:30 this morning, MTV had a half hour special of a popular longtime series...MTV Unplugged. The artist this time....one of my favorite bands of all times, KORN. It was awesome. Amy Lee from Evanesence came and did a duet with Jonathan for "Freak On A Leash". KORN also played a cover song from Radiohead- "Creep". Also, "Make Me Bad" was played with "The Cure"

It was a great performance. More information can be found on Korn's website:
http://www.korn.com

Korn has released an Unpluged album today, which I'll have to download from iTunes. I highly reccomend it.

Last time I saw them live was at the "Pop Sucks" tour at Continental Airlines Arena in December of 2001. That was the first time I saw Korn live, and touring with the was Disturbed. Can't get better then that combo!

x635 Goes Mac

Before my injury, I had been debating in my head whether I had made the right choice by going with my Dell XPS PC instead of a Mac.

Everyone I know who has a Mac swears by them, and I have never heard a bad word about them. I used to use Mac's exclusively up to about 15 years old, when I got my first PC.

I currently own a brand new Dell XPS 400 desktop, and a 4 year old Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop, ruunning Windows XP, and I'm satisfied with both, and my needs dictate a PC. (Although I could run Boot Camp)

After having some extra dough from a prviate consulting job I did, the money was burning a hole in my pocket. Sure, the smart thing to do would have been to put it into savings. But there was something itching me, wanting me to buy a Mac, and I scratched it. Not having a need for another desktop, I got a Macbook Laptop.

So, I finally got around to opening my brand new MacBook that I ordered the day before my injury. It's AWESOME! It's thin, light, and good looking....like me. It sports an Intel 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor. It's extremly user friendly, and am looking foward to learning all the features of this seeminly very well designed machine. There's a ton of innovative features.

Well, I'm getting tired out so that's all for now.

Here's the link to learn more about the MacBook:

Here's a photo:

My Digital Rebel XTi Suited Up And Ready For Battle

With assistance from a friend, I recently was able to upgrade my Canon Digital Rebel XTi 400D.

First, I recieved the new Tamron 18-250 Di-II lens that I've had on order since January. Although it'll be a while before I can try it out, I'm excited about the extra 50mm of range. Previously, I used the Tamron 18-200 Di-II, and used it exclusively. I found it to be an excllent walkaround lens. With it's wide angle and zoom, I never needed to use or change lens. If interested, I may be selling my Tamron 18-200, it's a great lens- you've seen my shots with it on this site.

The second updgrade to my camera was "Camera Armor"http://www.camerarmor.com/This is a rubber shell that encases my camera body, a plastic shiled over my LCD screen, and a rubber piece that fits over my lens. All the controls are stilll very accesible. My camera does take a lot of abuse, and I think this will help to protect it. My Digital Rebel 300D was exposed to rain, smoke, falls, etc and I wish I had this then, although knock on wood my D-Reb 300D was tough and never failed me.

Update On Me March 6th 2007

Hello Everyone

I know many of you are wondering how I'm doing. Although I don't want to go into specific details (nor can I remember them), I'll give you a brief synopsis. I know many want to know the specifics of my injuries and what happened. I've heard some of you have incorrectly and sadly speculated on what happened or have heard some fabricated or untrue details. Those that need to know what really happened do, and that's all thats important.

I spent the last week at Westchester Medical Center (again) due to complications from my injuries. I am now home, and I'm continuing with my treatment and recovery, and although I'm in a lot of pain and face other challenges, I feel confident that I will be dancing at my wedding in July as well as wheeling TL-15 down the streets of Hartsdale again. I have begun physical therapy, and I enjoy going and am stronger after every visit.

The support I've received from everyone has been fantastic. I cannot even begin to list everyone here, there is so many. I am so appreciative and blessed to have so many truly caring, warm hearted family, friends, and brothers. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything.

Just a little side story here. I'm still not able to walk without assistance and a walker, as looking at my knees can tell you. I get a good laugh when I'm using my walker to get into doctors offices and me, being a young looking 27 year old, getting funny looks from old ladies and trading walker tips and tricks. I've already worn through my first set of tennis balls, and am looking for someone to chrome plate or paint my walker lime green with blue striping. Also, I have a big back brace that sort of makes me look like some sci-fi warrior. It's pretty funny to see me now.

I don't spend much time on the computer since my injuries prohibit it, but I am glad that I had this opportunity to touch base. I'd also like to thank Kristen and everyone else who has pitched in to keep EMTBravo going.

Also, please note although I may not respond, I do read (and appreciate) every email I get. If you get a chance, drop me a note- my email is listed below.
